Job Overview:
The role involves underwriting Micro Mortgage loans through field-level assessments and detailed customer interactions. The officer will be responsible for evaluating creditworthiness, ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining portfolio quality, and supporting business growth while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities – Credit & Underwriting:
Underwrite Micro Mortgage loans through field visits and personal discussions with borrowers and co-borrowers
Underwrite IL loans at SFB and URC branches to understand geography and customer segments
Approve or recommend secured loans up to ₹10 lakh in line with credit policy and approval authority
Conduct verification of farmland, business premises, offices, and residences
Assess applicant’s repayment capacity, cash flow, character, and credit behavior
Conduct reference checks with customers, suppliers, vendors, and dealers
Ensure collection and verification of all required documents and KYC compliance
Evaluate collateral security, ensuring clear title, marketability, and exclusive first charge for the bank
Obtain legal opinions and valuation reports and recommend appropriate mortgage structure
Approve or reject loan applications based on credit assessment and documentation
Document and communicate rejection reasons to branch teams
Escalate deviations as per deviation matrix and flag document-related risks to FCU team
Ensure decisions comply with credit approval grid, deviation matrix, and bureau norms

Portfolio & Risk Management:
Maintain portfolio quality of underwritten loans for 12 months on book
Review and renew accounts before expiry in coordination with the distribution team
Monitor field rejections and guide branch staff to improve straight-through processing
Conduct loan utilization checks for recent disbursements
Participate in collections, recovery follow-ups, incremental overdues, and non-starters
Report and escalate critical field issues as per audit and penalty matrix
Support audit closure by implementing corrective actions

Customer Management:
Ensure timely processing of loan applications within defined TAT
Understand customer needs and recommend suitable loan products and amounts
Respond promptly to branch and customer queries
Coordinate with legal, technical, FCU, and operations teams
Ensure safe handling and custody of customer documents
Engage with customers for feedback on products, policies, and processes

Internal Process & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to credit policies, regulatory norms, and KYC standards
Review negative areas, no-go areas, and restricted customer lists
Ensure post-disbursement documentation completeness
Maintain activity trackers for discussions, file checks, visits, audits, deviations, and trainings

Learning & Performance:
Maintain updated knowledge of products, geography, regulations, and property documentation
Quickly adapt to new systems, products, and technologies
Network with NBFCs and banks to understand industry practices
Conduct sector studies and field underwriting
Provide regular feedback to supervisors on credit policies and processes
Improve field investigation and probing skills
Train branch teams on Micro Mortgage credit policies, updates, and best practices
Visit branches across clusters to enhance learning and operational understanding
